Haute Couture

Translated literally, ‘haute’ means high and ‘couture’ means sewing. The main misconception people have about the term is that it applies to all handmade clothes.
Haute couture means “ fashion that is constructed by hand from start to finish, made from high quality, expensive, often unusual fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finished by the most experienced and capable sewers, often using time-consuming, hand-execured techniques.” in France, haute couture is a legal term, meaning that any item given the title “haute couture” has passed a series of criteria defined by the Paris Chamber of Commerce.
